Workshop on Values-Based Indicators of Sustainable Development

Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009
2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Presented and facilitated by Arthur Dahl

This workshop welcomes participation by anyone wishing to learn about and contribute thoughts to an EU-funded project to develop values-based indicators of sustainable development. Inspired in part by the Bahá’í International Community’s statement, “Valuing Spirituality in Development”, the project focuses on several European-based organizations that strive to apply spiritual principles and values in their work. Academic researchers are helping the Earth Charter Initiative, the Alliance on Religions and Conservation, Peoples’ Theatre, and the European Baha’i Business Forum to develop indicators of these important but intangible factors. Participants will learn of progress to date and generate ideas for advancing the work.

    1. Arthur’s session was extremely well attended. More than 100 filled the room and offered wrapt attention. Lot’s of interesting exchange during Q&A. For a summary of points covered, see his PowerPoint, above.
